Guido Mine in Zabrze

The Guido Mine is a historic hard-coal mine in Zabrze, part of the Coal Mining Museum. It is one of the most important monuments of mining technology in Poland and a site on the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship.

History

The mine was founded in the 19th century and bears the name of its first owner, Count Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck. It has preserved authentic workings and mining infrastructure.

What to see

Visitors descend an original mine shaft to a level 320 m underground - one of the deepest tourist routes made accessible to visitors in Europe. Along the route, mining machinery from various eras and authentic workings are presented.

Who it's for

A site for those interested in the history of mining and technology; given the nature of the underground route, check the restrictions before your visit.
